What kind of world war 2 things do you have lieing around on your desk? My Uncle bought me these a few years back. Its Tin Toy Soldiers from Kings & Country. They are of Gen. Patton his 3rd Army Staff, his dog. And a few men from the 26thYD and 29thID. And of corse some Waffen SS.

I also have a National World War II Memorial Poster, Medic Mesh Bag, .30 Cal Ammo Belt, canteen, Can of shell water pump grease, Sniper british sniper scope. A Chow plate and cup, and last but not least Cpl. Chevs. :p

I found him in my backyard out in cali when we where doing some major yard work. It's simplet a German soldier with an MP40, if you can't see him well.

Coletto, Is there anyway you can get a shot without that Orange Tint? I think they are looking at the Colors for a good reason... Just maybe it will be an answer they are looking for.

Lol Yeah... This was over the summer, when I was running my own german realism unit. That's the only reason why I saved him.

Theres a German re-enactment group in Norway. If you log onto axis history forum and go to the re-enactment section, ask around there. :)

Around my desk...4 patches(UK Airborne, 82nd Airborne, 101st Airborne, and 29th Division), a cricket, paratrooper wings, and a GI steel pot(only thing original).

I also have the Band of Brothers DVD signed by Ron Livingston, Frank John Hughes, Micheal Cudlitz, and 19 of the actual veterans, including Frank Perconte, Shifty Powers, and Don Malarkey. (all thanks to the good old USO) ;)

You guys sure have a lot of WW2 stuff, especially you Sani :) Pfc. Jackson's BoB DVD also sounds really great. I personally don't posess anything fron the era, but my grandfather from my mother's side has a lot of things from the Finnish army such as his medals, uniform items, knife and captured "souveneirs" including a russian winter hat with red star. Maybe I will inherit these things later. He no longer has his service weapon, which was a mosin nagant I believe.

I dont really have much myself

I do have a British Parachute badge (the wings and parachute that they wore on the beret) I remember buying it a long time ago but have no idea if it is from the ww2 era or even real at all for that matter- might be a cheap remake :o

I do have the ww1 British Empire/Commonwealth victory medal, no ribbon though :(
Heres a link, the medal at the top of the page (http://www.diggerhistory.info/pages-medals/victory-medal2.htm)

and the WW2 British Medal, also without a ribbon...
here (http://cgi.ebay.com/WW2-British-Medal_W0QQitemZ6588339240QQcategoryZ4074QQssPageNa meZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

there both original, the First World War one might've been my grandmas uncles who fought at golipolli, dunno though

My aunt and uncle have my Grandfathers stuff lost in their attic. They promised they would look for it, but nothing yet. He was in the SS so I'm hoping he kept quite a lot of interesting stuff.

Interesting, so he was a POW over here then?

Indeed he was. I posted about him in the "Military History in your family?" thread:

My grandfather was Ukrainian. Quite bizarely, the Germans actually saved him from a lifetime of slave labour under the Soviet Union as his family was on the list to be sent to a concentration camp. Fortunatly the Russians never reached them 'thanks' to the Germans. He was conscripted into the Ukrainian SS and served in Czechoslovakia. I don't think he took part in any major battle though, but he was eventauly captured by the British. After the war he was released and married my Austrian grandmother (whos father sold food to the Germans) and had my mum.

If he hadn't been captured chances are I would not exist.

Ahh right, my apologies. Its likely that if your family did keep his belongings you might find a rucksack, erkenungsmarker (dog tags), soldbuch...photos...Which are all very lovely artifacts. :)

Got a picture of the American drop in Normandy(E Company, 506, 101) hangin next to my computer. Oh, yea, and it's autographed by Bill Guarnere. Yes, the guy who was reenacted in Band of Brothers. Sweet! :D Nowhere near as cool as the stuff you guys have though :(
