For the gentlemen that don't know, there used to be a Quake 2 mod called D-Day Normandy.

It looks like shit, but its fun to play :D

A year ago id Software gave them the full Q2 source code and license.
And now you can download it.

But since Fileplanet takes forever, I decided to upload it.

Hope you'll have fun.

No offense meant, but the game looks pretty outdated. Then again, it's free, so..... :)

My bad, lol, I didn't see the part where it states it's using the quake 2 engine. Thought they were using something newer. :D

I just have to comment on this.. :)
Remember playing it when it just came out, first game I can remember where you looked through the scopes of the weapon.. brilliant. :) (Remember it as something revolutional, and wondered if they had copied it from someone else) Haven't played it for many years, but it was only multiplayer when I did, and probably still is. Have no idea how big the community is now though, wasn't much before, some ten servers or some where 1 was active if you were lucky. There were no European servers either, witch was quite annoying for a norwegian with an ISDN-line. ;) Had to play on either an australian or american server. Was fun though.

The Quake 2-engine was also brilliant.. graphical-wise too. It beat Half-Life (1 of course) by a MILE in everything except cinematic storytelling. It was one of the pioneers for newer fps's in terms of graphics, gameplay and engine-physics.. and had a console that added a bit control to the user. (set sv_gravity 100 :D) Action Quake 2 is still the best Quake 2 mod though... actually, the best mod period I might say. :P
