its freezing cold down here in london, its pissing it down with rain & i have absolutly NOTHING to do! i havnt played any online games recently, because im simply bored of them! you know, you play the same games repeatedly & you just get tired of owning noobs (in my case dying lol) online multiplayer & singleplayer.
so.. what game shall i buy for my pc? FPS wise, any recommendations?

try the demo (Kong) first, I was not overly impressed with the demo. Maybe you should try a different genre. I am going through the exact same thing right now, bordom. I bought CodII but never bothered to finish it multiplayer only lasted a few weeks. In the past little while I went and tried some adventure games, namely Syberia I and II. As well, I just bought Need for Speed: Most Wanted, now that is a great game.

I suffer from the same problems on occassion.
Im gonna list all FPS or No:
If you have Rome Total War, try the SPQR mod for it at twcenter.net
check the forums under community projects or something.
It allows 0 build times for armys and has a more realistic feel and epic magnitude. New skins, some new units and presents a good challenge for the roman sides. (meant to be played as Romans but you can play as other sides).
The game Knights of honor is a good challenge.. shit battle maps ie: Nothing compared to medieval or RTW but it is a ton of Fun and has one of the best diplomatic models ive ever seen in a game. (mind u i havnt seen all)
A game I would like to try out which however has mixed ratings and needs big patches is Boiling point. Has anyone tried it? What do you think of it?
I havnt tried it but apparently its fun: DOD:S
Theres not many FPS that i can say do it for me... the linear plots make FPS the least replayable games evar... D:
Doom3 will keep you entertained at least one time through and takes a while to get through at least but once youve played it thats it....
The Thief series were extrmely fun, some of the most fun ive ever squeezed out of an FPS but their a tad outdated. but i havnt played thief 3 yet sadly and would like to get my hands on a copy.
I occassionally play BF1942 [Forgotten Hope Mod in SP for shits and giggles] Im going to download 0.7 and theres a bot out thats apprently really good and adds sp support for maps not previously in...FH 2.0 is on its way too.
The Operation Flashpoint series were great howver u may find the graphics outdated.
Oblivion should be out soon, an open ended FPS RPG set in medieval times.. its one i will definatley buy id say, especially since the AI is supposed to be sweet.

 i got COD2... abit easy, im playing on 'hardened'.. im on the british levels within about 3 hours playing time hehe
i dont know what it is but with world war two games, they just seem to stick you in between 2 walls & let you take on all the enemy by yourself (yes i know there are some open spaces) but it just feels like your always playing in a cramped environment..
although you have your whole squad behind you its not like they really do anything, because it seems like im always doing the killing..
ok, enough bitching, but do you guys get what i mean!? :o

I played the king kong demo and my index finger got so freaking tired after 10 minutes cause you had to constantly click nonstop during battles with the dinosaurs.

I bought CodII but never bothered to finish it
You must'nt be playing it on veteran then. Play it on veteran and enjoy the prolonged gun battles. :)

Try F.E.A.R. Its a rather disturbing experience at points, and may make you crap yourself whilst playing in the dark alone, however the battles are immense. The AI is the smartest I have seen in an FPS, and when you fire your gun, you will know it. Shrapnel will wizz about, pieces of walls will come of and stuff like that.

I found CoD2 very disappointing...
Lately I've been playing Mafia, it's just 5 bucks in the nearest softwareshop.
It's graphics are a bit old, but they still look good, even now.
If you like Mafia and you also like WW2, and you like tactical games, try Hidden & Dangerous 2.
It's 15 dollars and/or 15 euros...
If you have Battlefield 2, you should try Forgotten Hope 2 and BF1918/2.
Both basically the same but BF1918/2 is in WW1 and FH2 is in WW2.
You can also try Vietcong(: Fist Alpha), it's 20 dollars and/or 15 euros and it's damn good.
Vietcong 2 wasn't as good as Vietcong(: Fist Alpha) but you can't miss it if you liked Vietcong(: Fist Alpha)
 i got COD2... abit easy, im playing on 'hardened'.. im on the british levels within about 3 hours playing time hehe

ok, enough bitching, but do you guys get what i mean!? :oBecause CoD(2) is a one-way traffic game.
You'll never get lost, you can only go in one direction.
Plus the map always show you were to go.
It is a bit of Rambo action too, your friends will do surpression fire and kill some jerries.
But if you notice, everytime a friendly AI kills an enemy another enemy spawns, it will only stop spawning until you (the player) kill that AI.
All to unrealistic if you ask me, that's why I enjoy realistic games ;)

Anyone else got Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War? Its a damn awesome RTS game. Especially with the Expansion Pack, Winter Assualt. God it rocks.
