A very sad thing has happened here...

This place is pretty much dead.

I guess with reality becoming all the rage these days, we've all somewhat forgotten about our little online community... I'm sure the 1944ums will stay in the hearts of the brave few who have come this far... and hey, maybe it might not completely die. But it's never going to be quite like it once was again... Not any time soon, anyway.

It's been good...

Or, if you're determined not to let this community die, say so right here.

I visit everyday. I may not post all that much, but I still carry on visiting.

The game will be finished one day and when that day comes we will be overwhelmed with the number of people on the forums.

I just recently looked at my profile and realized I joined almost 2 years ago, and I thought I was still considered a "noob". This forum has a very long term audience that hits peaks and valleys sometimes.

In any case as long as the game is still under production, this forum will be here, I think the lull in activity is due to the lack of wip updates that Ronan has decided to hold, for good reason I'm assuming.

I look every day. maybe not post everyday, but I look. I have always been a quiet person. On and off the net.

I think that a lot of us just have varied developments in life and it is taking a little time/effort away from the forums.

Schooling, taking care of my daughter, moving house and the break up of my finance and I is taking its toll on my down time.

Us daily check-ers know there are times of scarce posting and times of abundant conversation. Every couple months we hit a low point like this, it'll become more active again soon.

It's like an awkward pause in a conversation when nobody can think of anything to say. Then a good topic comes up and everyone chimes in with something.

Baracca Chewbama
01-29-2010, 11:43 PM
Yep. It's been progressively quieter and quieter since I signed up a bit more than 1 year ago. I stopped posting and took a break from this forum for 6 months, now that I finally decided to see whats up, well, looks like there's finally no pulse.

I'm sure the silence on the part of the Developer is for good reason, though. As long as the game is still in progress, then it doesn't matter if the forum is gone, because when the game is complete people who play will sign up to discuss it.

1944ums dead? I visit here multiple times a day everyday. Sure, maybe this ain't some 4chan (luckily) where there is a new post to read every second, but we don't need that. We are a calm, close community and I don't think this place is going to die easily. I can understand why some newcomers aren't too attracted to the low activity of this forum and thus won't participate in this community, thus only lowering the activity. At least us old members still gather around and discuss about things because we all know there is someone who will post a reply.

As everyone else has said: I come here nearly everday. Hell, look at my join date! I've almost been here 4 years. Do you think I'm just going to randomly stop after 4 years? No way.

But 4 years ago I was turning 16 and going through many different situations than I am now. Now I'm almost done with my first 2 years of college, while trying to learn Latin in a semester (I'm in Latin II, I've never taken Latin in my life, but I the professor is being very helpful with me), working a new job I just got recently, and my music.

Put trying to spend time with family and friends on there and you have alot of time taken up hahaha.

But the best part about this community is the fact that most of us have been around for quite a long time, and those who haven't been around for as long seem willing to stay for the long haul. It's not even about the game being developed, it's about this being a comfortable environment. We know we don't necessarily have to post everyday to impress anyone haha ;-), and I know that even though I've been here for nearly 4 years and have less than 120 posts that people understand that sometimes a few of us just have much less to say. Just like Ness pointed out.

I'll still be around, and I'll still post. I'm here for the long haul, unless somehow my internet shuts off hahahaha. Even then, I'll probably find a way to check up on all you guys and let everyone know what is happening.

I can't believe how long it has been - And, I have NO idea how I became one of the top posters for a while - Shame I now only ever post in off topic, and have been overtaken recently by a couple of peeps :p But yea - I still remember being a newb on here - this is one of the very first forums I joined, and I still post from time to time - its all good. Well some researches think we Finns are descendants of the Mongols, so does that count as an Asian? Although some other researchers think that the Mongols are descendants of us Finns, so it's pretty confusing.

No.

Some researchers (a lot of researchers) think we humans are descendants of smaller primates, so does that mean we are starting a zoo here? No.

I personally don't think we are related to Mongolians. I personally think we are descendants of ancient Finns.

Edit: My response was to metsa.
Edit2: And I didn't quite understand what you are trying to say, Justin?

Lord Justin
02-02-2010, 12:59 PM
It doesn't seem at all likely that Finns descended from Mongolians. You'd think there would be some aspect of central Asian-ness in your appearance, and last time I checked Finns don't look Mongolian.

napalmi
02-02-2010, 01:03 PM
I agree with you. I find it funny that some researchers think we are descended from Mongolians. They think so because our language has similarities with those languages spoken in Asia, but it doesn't mean we come from Asia.

PS. I have a hard time finding any Mongolian in me when looking at my face :laugh4:

According to my teacher at school: Finns, Hungarians and Estonians are from the same ancient etnic group, originating somewhere just west of the Urals. Bulgarians from the same area, but not the same people. However, sami people are supposed to be from east of the Ural.

But i must say, i had never been that emotionally attached to an online community or game. I think we might just feel quite elitist compared to the newcomers who will arrive as soon as the game grows in popularity. Just like older generations towards youg people.
"Remember the good old times, when we used to talk about all that serious stuff thats going on our lifes and not just about bugs and balance issues and how freaking frustrating artillery can be?" Yeah, that will be us.

We will need a riders of ronan exclusive forum or something ... just pointing it out.

Oh and by the way, about the cult stuff and such. Is it allowed to have sexual intercourse? And is it allowed to have them with non members as well?
