View Full Version : What car do you drive?

There was a thread like this on RO forums, and it was pretty popular, so, hopefully it'll get the same reception here...
Lets see what you drive (doesn't have to be a car, can be motorcycle, tank, or whatever :D )!
First up, its my pride and joy, which seems to suck in all my time (in a good way) - If I'm not at a VW show, or club meet, I'm on VW forums or attempting to fix it!

I love it - 1964 VW Kombi, 1600cc, lowered about 5 inches all round, hopefully going lower soon. Got a bed in the back, and a nice beefy sound system :D

Interior is not finished at the moment, so, it doesn't usually get photographed :(
Best photo at the moment, taken at a show, when I was very hungover, and seeing as I was camping, it was VERY messy :p

But yea, its got a sink, loads of cupboards, a wardrobe, and big ass speakers :D And the seat folds into a bed, which is plenty of room for 2 people :D
Not big on cars. I ride...

R!G4M0RT!Z, you've no idea how jealous I am. If I had a VW van I'd freaking live in that thing. I'd camp in it and go on road trips all the time and have the time of my life. That's the coolest thing in the world. They don't still make them though, right? :tongue3:
Well I am going for the written part of my driver's license test tomorrow so I'll have that soon and then maybe I'll get a car in a little bit :D. Anything would do for me, I just want something to drive.

I'm driving Fiat Punto because I live in downtown and it's quite handy there. I can put pictures later.

Haha, trust me man, its cool, right up until it breaks down :p They made ugly watercooled ones like this, up until recently, in Brazil:
http://goglamping.net/wp-content/uploads/cache/1296_single.jpg
But, they're REALLY expensive for what they are (About £20,000, as opposed to about £10,000 for a mint condition, tax free (post 67, pre 72) original van, which would be so much better - And, a Splitty, in the style of mine, would be about £15,000-£20,000 for an absolutely mint condition camper, which would be SOOOO much cooler.)
But yea, it is nice to go out along the coast, and camp out, or go to VW shows and just chill for a long weekend, with likeminded people :D
Good luck in your bit of drivers test! :D

Well $16,000 (£10,000) isn't that bad, I wonder how hard it would be to find one around here (I'm not sure I've ever seen one driving around these parts :tongue3:)
Thanks for the luck :D
e: A quick Google search seems to show a lot of used buses for sale all over the place :)

If you're looking for one, your best bet for the USA is probably here:
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/cat.php?id=5
They're cheaper in the USA (probably because it doesn't have to be in as good condition to be roadworthy)

Well not much in my area, but maybe in a few years I will have some real interest in checking one out. Maybe then I'll find a good one in my region. But that won't be for awhile, for now I'll just dream :D

They still make them in Brazil, but this ugly model is very rare. In fact, even the Beetle is quite common here (in fact my father is keeping one in the garage for a friend, who I think doesnt really want it back, lol), so acquiring old volkswagen cars is quite easy.

I like style, and fun. :cool3: If I'd have wanted speed, I'd have bought something RWD and with a big engine... But, I love the classic, iconic looks of my van more than I'd love the fun of sliding round corners, and getting done for speeding :laugh3:
Still, sporty Saab's are coool :cool3:
