For anyone who's played it, consider this...

Apart from the (unexploded...) bomb in Megaton, have you seen any nuclear missile ground-zeroes?

And yet, this is the capital of the country, and it sure LOOKS devastated...

Thoughts?

I am not sure if Fallout 3 work on my PC

I've got it on the 360. Dunno the requirements for PC. I'd imagine similar to Oblivion...

i don't own it, but from i understand... it's an RPG. i took one look at the review and just thought that it'd play so much better as an FPS.

not sure if i'll be buying it y'know because there's other games i'm looking forward to playing more than Fallout 3, but if there's a dry spell in the gaming world, i might consider it for my PS3

Its fun. In its own way. Well, it is Oblivion with guns (http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb293/metsapeikko/Sekalaista/fallout3.jpg), but still it is quite enjoyable (http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb293/metsapeikko/f34.png).

most nuclear weapons are airblast because this maximizes their effectiveness.

Well, personally, I can't wait for the SDK to come out.

Warhammer 40k mod would be... Awesome. Brutal trench-warfare...

Agreed. It's less "Oblivion-ish" than I expected, but still is like Oblivion. It's still fun in its own way, though.

i buyed it and its really cool. I played Fallout 2 and i think Fallout 3 has a great post-nuclear-war-and-so-on felling :)
I loaded a uncutpatch and now i can see flying bodyparts^^
but btw. is it normal by a critical deat shot in the torso that arms and legs flying of? sometimes its really strange but funny too^^

Im really into it right now.
its not oblivion with guns though. it does have some of the same feel, like with dialogue but other than that its supurb!

The firefights are really rewarding; its so cool and never gets old when you blow a guys head off in slow-mo.

As for "ground zeros" alluded to in the first post, there is a massive, radioactive crater on Pennsylvania Ave where the White House would have been @_@

No wonder I couldn't find White House...

I thought it was a pretty fun game but the ending was a bit of a disappointment. Not like the last hour or so of the main quest, that was awesome, but I mean the way it actually ends.

There's apparently quite a few endings depending on how you played the game but the couple that I experienced were a bit boring.

Anyone set the bomb in Megaton to explode? I wonder what happens. I might go back and do it.

All of the endings are boring and uneventful.

Yeah. The ending of the main quest is an absolute dog. A triumph of "meh, let's just end it now".

i find that because the atmosphere etc. to the game is rather bleak, i dont find it as engaging like oblivion was.

First 2 Fallouts were deeper, more intelligent, more subtle. IMHO. Well, consider my opinion as an opinion of old snob who always mumbles about "good old times, oh the grass was greener"....

But nevertheless Fallout 3 is far more "unusual"(in a good meaning of the word) then many new RPGs. It's definetly not a bad game. Has some charisma and depth.

...

The writing in Fallout 3 definitely isn't as sharp or witty OR varied as in the first two, though. More often than not there are only three choices, usually which make little to no difference to the actual outcome.

Good game marred by disappointing ending, I feel. Much more fun to just explore the Wasteland and do the side quests, and ignore the main quest. It's really astonishing how they were able to mess up the main quest so bad.

Hopefully the SDK being released in January will fix that.

Bring on the dog armor!
