Hey,
Who here has played that HL2 Lost Coast Addon? I did so about a hour and a half ago and I think it's pretty awesome. The commentary is pretty interesting too :)

It's a 335Mb download and the min reccomended specs are:
CPU: 2.2Ghz
RAM: 1Gb
Video Card DirectX 9 Compatible Card

I only just meet these requirements, although steam still has the nerve to tell me my machine is under spec - (Thats an AMD XP 3000+ CPU and yes, I know its clock speed is 2.2Ghz!)

Anywho, I think it's pretty well done.
Heres a screeny I took of the fisherman (http://img463.imageshack.us/img463/165/fisher1po.jpg) :D

I liked the comments about HDR. Very nice. :)
This is were education and gamedesign meet in an interactive way.
I say yes to more releases like this! :)

Expect the singleplayerpart not to last longer then 15 minutes tho... :(

played it now..that was well done, the hdr lighting adds to the lighting, even tho it is fairly subtle, and a particularly liked the commentary. cant wait till more mods and levels start using the hdr element of the source engine.

Yep, it claims my AMD 3500+ is under spec, I just need to consult my favourite computer store ;-)

Graphics are great! but at the end I was like.. "is that it?!" only took about 8 minutes and wasn't very challenging. The one thing I do like is

'In female voice' = "Detecting major fractures... administering morphine now..."

try jumping off a cliff.

I thought Lost Coast was made as a preview of the Aftermath expansion pack?!?!?!

Lost Coast was a demo of the Source Engine with HDR technology.

It was a tech demo. Not a new level. Not an expansion. Heaps of people are whinging about how it took them 5 minutes.
It wasn't meant to take them 4 hours. It's showing off the HDR, just like Jimmy said.

I somehow managed to get my FX5200 to run HDR. It looked pretty cool, but was completely unplayable. I enjoyed the commentary system, I thought that was a nice addition.

You probably had it set to "Full HDR" in the setting, but it was only rendering the bloom effect.

If anyone wants to see an awesome interactive tech demo thing for HDR, then check this out http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/rthdribl/index.html . I found it yesterday and it's soo amazing. There are loads of things you can adjust for different effects, and even open up some different models.

Nope, it was full HDR, with the overbrightnening and everything. Shame the screen refreshed every 8 seconds :/
