Bought a new 360 yesterday, took it out of the box set it up, and turned it on. Instantly got the red rings of death :P
That said I have turned on this new 360 more times this year than my Wii and PS3.
Going to bring it back today and pick a fight with the retard at the store, who thought Mario Galaxy was for the 360, didn't know what Crysis was, and when I handed him Call of Duty 4 he put it back on the shelf, leaving me standing at the till like a spare prick.
Oh you gotta love gamestore clerks.

When i first got my xbox360 i scratched 2 copies of oblivion, because a little nudge while its on and it eats the disc. The 360 is even designed to be put up vertically, and if it falls over it fucks it up the disc.
I had to go back two times looking like an idiot. But thank god, now i got a more stress free method of replacing games.
Best of luck:).

Well I think if the disc is spinning and it falls over I would expect it to get buggered. It also clearly states not to move the console while the disc is spinning.
PS2, PS3, Wii would most likely all suffer the same fate if you did this.

Not when i got it though, in australia the first batch didn't have the warning. And im refereing to it put verticlely on carpet, and if it tips on its side it scratches, when its designed to stay upright, this never happened with the xbox, heck i could hit that thing with a bat and it wouldn't break.
Of course im more careful now.

It happened to me to, my 360 Red ringed, then we got a new one, red ringed, and then we finally got a working one. But in total I've had three total red ringed 360s. Its common in the older model. They are free to replace.
