Way advanced for our time! That'll be something, 1944 (or other game by Frantic Games) with equal or better graphics!

The one game that seems to me to be an obvious choice for that engine would be one thats set in the Vietnam War. It would be great to patrol through a full jungle like that.

I heard they came up with the ability to cut down trees when someone was watching them blow up a bridge and said "Wouldn't that be cool if we could to that to the trees?"

Wow... such... "innovation" i know of a couple older games where you could do that (granted, the cry-engine makes it look really sweet)

Cant wait till some one gets the idea... "Hey! what if we could do that to the ground? awh that would be sick! making big ole craters with the tank! diggin tunnels with satchel charges! AWH SNAP!"

^for the record, Red Faction did that first

i miss R.F multiplayer matchs... it was like playing cat & mouse INSIDE swiss cheese.... with rocket launchers and rail guns :D

Any WW2 battle in the pacific would work too....Like Guadalcanal,New Guinea,Saipan, yeah, I can think of loads of things that you could do with that engine....

I'd love to launch one of those nukes.

Now the only question is whether it is optimized well enough that it can run well on computers that aren't top of the line.

It would make your computer cry it's hardware out if it isn't top of the line.

From the same link that that video with the nuke is on, there is an interview about the engine that shows it with everything turned on low, and it doesn't look all that bad, there is a lot of fog though.

Just because something has "better" graphics then something else doesn't mean that it is going to need better hardware to run, it all depends on whether the programmers know what they are doing or not.

For instance, I go and play the demo for Splinter Cell 4, a game that runs on the latest Unreal Engine, my Geforce 6800 runs it like crap on any video setting, so bad that the game is nearly unplayable. Then I go install and play something like the Dark Messiah of Might and Magic demo, a game that runs on the latest source engine and a game that looks just as good graphics wise; it runs at a steady 40-60 FPS completely smooth on the highest quality settings.

This is because the makers of the source engine and Dark Messiah knew what they where doing and optimized their game to run at a very high efficiency, on the other hand somewhere down the line in the production of Splinter Cell somebody didn't know what they where doing and caused the game to run much less efficiently.

Almost any game right now can be optimized to run efficient enough for a mediocre gaming computer, even Crysis, it just all comes down to whether the programmers are up to it but the ones that know what they are doing usually aren't because either
they are lazy
they are being payed by the hardware companies with the intention to keep gamers buying new hardware
both 1 and 2
