Very very awesome site for fellow photoshoppers and owners of flight sims.

http://www.screenshotart.com/

We take screenshots of planes from flight sims and edit them, make a composite out of them, or just plain make art out of the original screenshot.

Swing by and take a look.

These are no amature screenshots. Real avation artists take part in this and their are very good competitions each month.

Recently i won a TrackIR 4 Pro. :D :D

http://www.screenshotart.com/index.php?showtopic=23254

My winning composite here

http://www.screenshotart.com/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=55589

The contest is called "Edit This"

The site admin gives a background for us to edit anyway we like. The best one wins a Track IR 4 which is worth $200 and is every Flight simmer (and recently Armed Assualt(er)'s) dream.

I never understood that TrackIR thing... I mean if you look to the left for your sim to go left wouldn't you be facing left and not be able to see the screen? :p

LOL its not like that, it has more sensitivity, like when you slightly turn your head the characters head turns much more, so you wouldnt ever really have to take your eyes off the screen :D Its not really accurate and it has some lag on it but it works great, for not having to press extra buttons to turn the view by hand.

Hehe... Well it still sounds like a bother. I'm just going to wait until they have those virtual reality goggles.
Or better yet in the far future they may be able to put you in a controlled state and manipulate your brain.... Just like that Matrix in a way... Minus the big thing IN the brain. :p

Possibly closer than you might think. I read an article ages ago about how some people were able to tap into the nervous system and remotely control (somewhat erratically) the muscles in a humans body. Reverse engineer this, and you can have the nervous system remotely controling something like, say, a game.

Nice picture. :D

there are test on this, they implemented censors on the surface of the brain for remote control. Then the brain learned in time to control simple functions on a computer like moving the mouse or typing. The doctors told, when asked if this could evolve into something like matrix, they answered: You canīt learn stuff ilke in The Matrix, but you could control complex machinery, software or even have fully working and reacting synthetic arms and legs which feel like real ones, but arent going to have any feeling on them, unless they invent s synthetic skin which senses touching, pressure, force etc..etc.

They first tried this on mice, the mice were able to control the machine that feeds him just with his mind and the machine even responded before the mice even moved a muscle, which indicates the mice "felt" the machine as an extension of his body, making it an extra "limb" if you will.

The most extremists say the techology could allow complete "cyborg" like humans in 20 years to be developed. If they would let them work freely with genetics and doing test like these with humans without any constrains or with unlimited resources.

Robocop anyone?

On the brain thingy, its Kevin Warwick (one of my lecturers btw) who is doing this. He has one in his arm which allows him to control various machines via the internet, or just directly. He is also researching into brain implants that connect you to the internet and your computer. He wishes to have an implant in his brain by 2010 i think it is.
This sort of thing would take away the need for a keyboard and mouse entirely. Just sit and think about what you want to do, and there on the screen it will do it. I dont know if you will need to think "I am pressing the W key in my mind", or just "Go forward", or you might even be required to actually move your legs.

I dont know if you will need to think "I am pressing the W key in my mind", or just "Go forward", or you might even be required to actually move your legs.

its somethinglike this: you first start on random brain test to figure out what causes the desired function on the....lets say....NOTEPAD. Ok, you start doing complex stuff, thinking, reading, lifting your arm etc etc...then a letter appeares on the screen. Ok good, then you try to repeat that, and if you finally figure out how you get the "chip" to regognize the input you start to train to repeat the function. Finally you learn to write the same letter over and over again, and lets say you achieve this by thinking sex, and "POP" a letter H is on the screen. Good now you have learned to write and H on the sceen. Then, you will start to learn how to separate those two (sex and H) from each other and you eventually learn how to write the letter H just by, well writing it with your brain and not by thinking/doing other stuff that triggers it. Now this was only an example.

they did this on a simplified fly sim, where you had to fly the plane through hoops in the air, and first the suspects only were capable of random movements of the plane and werent able to STEER the plane. In time they regognized the right "input"īs that made the plane go up, and the right "inputs" that made the plane turn etc..etc. Then they learned how to steer it throught the hoops. This was a test for some helicopter pilots I guess.

Fascinating studies. I think we could be operating machines/robots with our minds in near future. But I believe the best would be to have mechanized limbs if you loose one, but then again, everyone would be cutting their limbs off to have super-oh-so-cool CYB0RG ARMZ!1!!

Josh, I couldn't find the elements of your images before compositing and over-painting, which I'd be interested in seeing.
And what's that thing on the engine deck of the Tiger II? (if it's a bucket nevermind)

Which picture do you want to see the elements of?

As for the "bucket" i really have no idea what it is....

Might be for the exhaust.

The Tiger II if it's not too much trouble, just to see how the process is done and how it all comes together.

This sounds very intresting. And if that works, you should be able to put in cyborg-oragans aswell, like a heart. It would be a revolutionary thing for medicine.

Well the picture looks complicated but it consists of only 3-5 parts.

The background
2 Tigers
and 2 layers of lighting.

as for the tiger.

Well its a plastic model!

I googled Tiger II and King Tiger and got some good pictures of tiger plastic models.

Im making another tank picture.

If you can wait ill show you the process with that one. The one now i deleted the PSD file for.:(

It is easy to make it, but hard to perfect it.

My image was easy to make....until it was time to blend them altogether.

I had to add the depression in the grass from the tread, add the many shadows, tweak the tanks to make them blend into the picture, and finally picking a color filter to blend it all together.

Ill post a step by step of how i do some of my work, sometime in the next week

Right now im addicted to Supreme Commander :p
