So, I just recieved an email from playnet about a free gift card of two months play for BGE (aka wwII online). Downloading it now, I'll tell you guys what it's like:D

Really? No lag when I play. I got 3 kills on my 2nd respawn. I like the game, just kind of boring when there is no action. But hey, that's war i guess. I asked on the WWIIOL forums a long time ago for a free 14 trial buddy key thing, no reaply untill now I guess lol.

check your FPS. i used to like to set up ambushes with my M10 and snipe panzers. also got me some tiger kills. you would have to be level 5 atlease to get a sherman or M10 wolverine.:D

Eugh, I have played it, and never even seen an enemy, let alone shoot one. I hate the graphics... But, I spose the gameplay would be good, if I had a joystick

The fact that you need to give them a credit card number to play their free trial turns me off from looking at it. I've always been against that fact, mainly due to principle.

Same here, but how could I refuse a free 2 month trial that DOESN'T ask me for my cc info:D I think the game is great! I was a brit in the army and my squad and I were holding off a German attack on our base, killed around 7 of em'. It's really fun at night too. Seeing all the flak and AA guns going off. I also like how load some of the bigger guns are (howitzers (sp?) and such). Can't wait to here them in 1944:eek:

if you were level 3 you could have so much more fun than now. i remember getting on top of a church once, it was just me an my trusty MG34. man i miss my MG34 :rolleyes: . this was a town we had just captured, well almost captured. anyway, i was ontop of the church, right?.. and i see around five british soldiers coming out of their spawn, so i waited until they were all in the middle of the street then i slautered them all.:D i almost felt like if it was straight out of the movie Saving Private Ryan. you know like the shot where the machine gunner atop the church shots down the germans, before they got creamed as i did too.:rolleyes: oh those where the days.

the graphics do suck, but the sucked even more before the new patch they added, which was about 6 to 8 months ago.

I played for 2 years. As for the graphics ya they suck, but the game play was excellent when there was a small town fight.. the best is when one side holds half the town and another holds the other.

Or when your getting clobbered and about to be pushed out of the town and the germans roll in tons of armor... clobbering you more, and just as you think you have lost the town, a tank blows up right infront of you, and you can see your tanks comming down the road...

your lucky i never got more than 15 fps but i still had fun. it could have been do to the fps but i never got a kill in the luft.

any game with the exact game play but up to date graphics would be the perfect game. if wwiiol had bf2 graphics i wouldent be wasting my time with any other game.

ive always wanted to try it. I bought it when it first came out. didnt work returned tryed again still didnt work....that was years and years ago though.

now..dont really crave it that much. there are other good games out there, and the i dont want to have to give them my info or have to pay to play a game.

I have a moral (and financial) obligation against subscription games. I hate feeling like I have to play it or else I'm wasting money. And also it sounds a bit barren (and I tried it once, realised that even the friggin tanks need a joystick, and the graphics made OFP look like Gears of War).

Its a good game but its not worth the monthly fee. The dev team is to small I think its about 12 people so takes a long time for things to get done then when they are implemented they usually buggy so have to wait a month or two or somtimes even longer just to get the bugs fixed out of that. Then with the patchs they make same story like the one where they added fog which was supposed to protect squishes (ground pounders) from air planes. Ended up with extremly haze that started at 1/2k and up never stoped last time I checked fog was low on the ground and could be flown over, so ened up just helping the guys killing ground pounders more and hurt the guys wanting AtA combat, which in turn pretty much a leading factor to majority of the pilots leaving the game. They had a patch to fix it but was months down the road.

The games advertised as being 1/2 scale or w/e of Europe......I can tell you from playing the game that majority of the map isnt even seen or played out 98% of all playing/fighting, traveling or what not happens around the really crappy looking towns which look more like morden day cities then cities of 1940s and at the FBS and about 3k radius around the rounds that are near towns and FBS. There are some really cool and interesting places to fight outside these areas that I've seen when in armour coloums but the fact that key strategic points like hills/mountians don't have any capable function leads these to be unimportant.

The game has potential to be a really awsome game but the fact of the matter stands they don't have enough money or devs to capitlize on the game. Add to the fact that they have practically no advertising of the game, and players that have left the game that got tried of the game for poor performance,buggy or what not give it bad raps (like I have) not helping it bring in more customers.

Don't get me wrong I liked the game fact I still would play it and enjoy it but I had enough of dealing with it when the persona I liked playing the most was pretty much killed which was the Airforce. The game has a great community with some mature crowd. If you havn't played it I'd at least give that 7 day free trial a go if you play ground things I mentioned probly won't bother you.

I finally got to level 3. Which most of the time i play an mg34 gunner. SO much fun. Pz4 is amazingly fun.

I just got the new patch and no more lag 67 fps in planes :)

If that's what you mean I got to the 5th rank in the German Army during my brief time during the two week trial. That was back in February though...perhaps it is different now?

Well its a good ranking system. It prevents new noobs hopping in a tiger and driving it into a a sapper infested area or off a cliff.
Since Tigers are pretty expensive toys and supply is active in this game.

If you want points just cap bases and you will promote quickly. Kinda hard with rifleman, but hey I bucked up and did it :)

And yes its fun. The lag is also fixed.

I'm easily pissed by spawn camping. And mobile spawns are spawn camping waiting to happen, although it is a fun game. With bad graphics.:rolleyes:

I do remember one time, I had a Bren, and I was wandering around in some forests searching out some enemy. To my surprise, I came across a Mobile Spawn Point, and I set up out of view. Lucky as I was, a group of Germans had spawned and I proceeded to rip them apart, aswell as their MSP.

Don't usually get that lucky though.

Hey all! been playing wwiiol since 2002 off and on and am really impressed with the actual progress that has been made in the game from grainy X bushes to full rendered and so on the fog problem has been fixed and the new 1.25 patch approached most of the bugs in the game. Looking forward to 1944 but will keep enjoying wwiiol

I played this game in that trial thingie. But nah, I got too low fps whit my 6600GT, so I couldnt play it actually... But now that I got x1950pro, and more RAM, I would love to play this game once more.

Blame it on the allied HC, streching your forces too thin, so we broke through roosendal, val, reims, and now berry au bac.

Dial up will work
Game is processor intense so unless you have a great processoor, dont bother or youll have nothing but frustration

Any general tips for BGE? Apart from needing a joystick, there's a guy on their forums who's re-mapped all the keys to drive and fly with the keyboard/mouse.
