Activision announced Thursday that Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty and Call of Duty United Offensive will be distributed via Steam.

"Activision has been a player on every major gaming platform dating back to the Atari 2600," said Gabe Newell, co-founder and president of Valve. "We're delighted to welcome them to Steam, and offer this legendary company's products."

"Our agreement with Steam enhances our current online distribution model by allowing us to bring our games to the broadest possible audience," said Dave Anderson, Activision's Senior Director of Business Development. "As broadband penetration continues to grow worldwide, offering our titles digitally to the millions of gamers connected through Steam makes sense to us."
A fourth Activision title, Gun, will also be available via Steam.

No word on prices yet.

I still wanted to get them older games too,the early ones had FJ maps, the others not to shure if they had FJ in them?,i played once maybe online some time ago as them.So you mean they will sell them all over again, the people with there older games and the servers they use will still be around?,or they have to move over to the steam servers, confusing sort of,but sounds good still.

I wonder if this means that Steam will be required to play those games online. That would suck.

The FJ is in the game, and the Fallschirmgewher can be found on some of the maps.

What about if you already have CoD, will you have to re-register it with steam?

I hope to hell not, Steam is good but I just bought my dad half life 2 for his computer...at his house e only has dial-up, and he went online before he played and registered with steam...and started downloading updates for the game (I told him NOT to get steam until i went to his place).

Well now in order for him to play in offline mode he has to finish everything he started downloading.

Needless to say with a 56k modem itwill take him days and days to finish getting all the hl2 updates (and tying up his phonelines) before he can even START to play the game.

Meh not too happy with the COD series and their decisions of late. And if steam will be a requirement for COD Ill prolly just give up on it.
