I'll never put more money into the battlefield series ever. Maybe, MAYBE when BF3 comes out and goes back to the ww2 theatre, like it should have stayed.

They want to throw out 2142 using the exact same engine and physics when bf2 isnt even smooth? And believe me, i like modern warfare, future warfare, whatever, just give me my money's worth....give me a completed game.

Red tag bug, hit-box problems, dolphin diving, bunny hopping still havent been fixed for 2142. Maybe you can count on their many patches though. Fix one problem and create 2 others.

I could play bf2 on low settings but smoothly, how come I can't play bf2142 on low settings smoothly at all? BF2142 on low settings is RIDICULOUSLY laggy, but I thought they used the same engine and everything?

The game is amusing. Leading my squad and telling them to watch out for giant battle mechs has never been so entertaining. Unless you count playing Gundam Wing.

Are the idiots already there?
Cause that was pretty fast in BF2  !

i really think battlefield needs to head back to WW2....and redo the engine entirely....

the newer battlefield games just aren't as fun as 1942 and vietnam

Hrm... This is actually very fun. Not sure whether I'm going to get it, though.

Bf2142 runs better than bf2 even on low settings.

The engine is more optimized.

I was getting around 20-40 fps in the demo with high sound.

With high sound and all low settings in bf2 I got around 10-30 fps.

HOWEVEr with my Shader 1.4 Driver Hack I get up to 50 fps in bf2142, and great smooth gameplay in bf2.

is bf2142 just robots with guns?

The battles on the Titan are awesome. Plain and simple.

No, it's much like BF2 but much more futuristic. There are MEC unit's, the huge mechanical walkers, jets and airtransports that don't use turbine jets and other cool stuff.

I could not agree more. when bf1942 came out i was very happy with it.

It was my most favorite wwii game at that time. I still play FH

Well, I've been trying it, and it's not bad. I was pleasantly surprised to find quite a few servers here in China, with lots of players too. I had worried that all the servers would be elsewhere and my ping rate would be too high (kind of "lone Scotsman in China with a demo with nowhere to go").

I've been doing rather better than usual in First Person Shooters (4th place), apart from the first few games where I hadn't learned how to land my aircraft and died a few times (still do, sometimes, but slowly improving). That's probably because I tend to concentrate on capturing silos, rather than looking for people to "frag"!

As for the longevity of the game, it's difficult to tell at the moment with only the one "demo" map. I'll probably buy it, but the real "wish list" game (apart from "1944", which is a given on this forum) is still "Enemy Territory: Quake Wars". Incidentally, the official page for that: www.enemyterritory.com has been updated recently with the soldier/vehicle/deployable weapons classes, so interested parties should check it out.

One of the things that always seems to appease me is the simple difference in the explosions and the effects that the bullets make. Not very complex, but it's so gratifying to be unloading a bunch of bullets into an enemy, and there's a bunch of sparks and stuff all over them.

Unfortunately it's usually the enemy unloading a bunch of bullets into me!:( I did manage second place the other night, though, with my heroic solo defence of our Titan (I was the only one on board), with all four consoles down and the reactor room breached. Saved the day and the match! That's VERY unusual for me. I think that I got lucky!

Just installed it yesterday, I really like it. But for some reason, A little ways into the game, it seams like im getting internet lag but my ping is fine. So maybe ill lower my settings see what that does. The graphics look way better than bf2 and it runs smoother.

Yes. The internet lag is a very big problem. It's painful as hell on board the Titans too, especially if they're moving.

I wasn't planning to buy it, but EA have sent me free reviewer copies, so I guess I'll be obliged to at least try the full game next week - they must be really desperate if they're sending me free copies :-)
