View Full Version : Public Research Section
Well i was thinking, alot of people here know plenty about WW2 be it from classes or books etc, and Ronan you have to do alot of research so i thought why not make a Public Research section. You post what you need researched on and we could help you find out the info(with proper citation ofcourse) I mean its not hard to find info online or go down to your local library and look through books there. Just a thought to help you guys out. So uhm comments?

we have close to around 40 gigs of research at the momment. THe problem we find with most researchers who apply to us is that they just google. Google is not your friend when researching, your friend is actual evidence and knowledge, and then google can be used.
Unless you know exactly what you are looking for and what you are looking at, it is very very hard. We have turned down many researchers based on the quality of their research.
While others have done well it's tough to actually get the right balance. So I think we will decline on this, thanks for the offer, but if we want to remain as accurate as we are then we will have to avoid such public research.
On the other hand, actual current day references of Normany landscape and layout as well as the lay of the land would be incredibly helpful.

Also FG does not like random links but instead likes folders full of pictures and documents. Makes it easier to implement and also for moddelers they don't have to trawl through sites. Most of the things you wouldn't want to be doing like french bedpans and stuff. ;)

Most of Normandie remains the same, with perhps more of the hedgerows cut down. The beaches are not the sam as they were 62 years ago but most of normandie is how it was. Historic reconassance photos are hard to find currently, but if you have some then please post.
Trenches from WW1 still scattered throught Europe and i believe a lot of the WW2 Normandy beachead bunkers and stuff are still there but erosion is threatening to some of them.

I have a folder of over 10,000 pictures that ive collected off various sites that have disapeered by now. Most of them are also out of books that I personally scanned. Most are pictures never seen before. Ive been collecting reference books mostly for german for about 4 years now. Id say my collection is over 500 books. All these pics are stored on my computer in a folder and is open for devs use.
WOW that sound slike it will helpem alot! How much space does it take up?
