I have a quick question I wonder if anyone knows it.

OK I have a 160 HD that I partitioned into 2 parts, a 40MB and 120MB, I had to do this because my mother board wanted it this way for some reason, any-who if i set the Virtual Memory to lets say EXP: 1400MAX, will that change it for both Partitioned hard drives, or just the one that the OS is installed on?

I want my Virtual Memory to run 1400MAX for both partitioneds of the drive.

The size of your virtual memory or swap file can vary in very large estimations.

You'll certainly have to think from 1.5x to 2.2x the size of your working ram memory.

Tell me how much RAM memory Windows thinks you have and I'll give you an estimation....

160MB HDD ain't gonna help you if you have more then 64MB RAM.

Now the place that the OS places the swap file depends on its setting, its default is just the bootdisk where the OS is placed.

In Windows XP you have to find your way to the System control panel, then go to tab Advanced, click on Setting under table Prestations, then go to tab Advanced and the click on Change...

I hope you understand it so I won't have to explain the rest ;)

I know how to change the VM, I just wanna make sure that when I set the VM it's for ALL the HD or Partions and not just the one that has the OS on it.

EDIT: Ok I got it figured out now. Thanks

EDIT: Ok I got it figured out now. ThanksWhy would you enable VM on hard-disks on multiple discs?

You'll have a slower pc if you have IDE (ATA and SATA)...
If you want to have the VM on a particular disc without performance loss you should try SCSI...

I have all my games on one partitioned part of my disk and just media on the other, I wanted the games partitioned disk to run more VM when playing AA BETA, I raised my VM and BAM everything is running MINT.

I know this question may be a bit.. stupid...... but don't you mean "GB" instead of "MB"? (just found it to be a bit confusing at first)

Although if you don't really care about performance loss, then go ahead.

Note: only SCSI? What about SATA?

How can you possibly have 64GB RAM???

No I really meant MB, but that was only an example.

SCSI is much quicker as SATA.

SATA can only maintain 500Mbps for as long as you have enough DMA cache.

SCSI has its own processor and cache memory, and can handle 320Mbps constantly, full-duplex on 16 devices, so 16x320!!!

But Fibre Channel SCSI is even quicker! But it costs soo much you can buy almost 3 brand-new pc's with the same amount of money...

Oh. I didn't know that SCSI was like that.
