Ok, obviously everyone knows about the new game by now, and personally I'm pretty pissed. Working for Amped the natural thing to do seemed to be to write an article, so here ya guys go! Enjoy.

For those that don't follow BF2, here's the movie and article lol.

I agree with a lot of your comments, but EA's only goal is to make money, which is why DICE gave up working on BF2 to start developing BF2142. Forget about the bugs in BF2, there's a whole host of features that were dropped from BF2 so that they could get it released and start selling copies. Now they're going up against Quake Wars (Huxley, etc, etc) and it makes business sense to try and get BF2142 released ASAP. BF2 itself could have been delayed 6 months to deliver a far better polished product, but that would have been six months of big money lost.
As for the engine, they'll have had a year to tweak and iron out the bugs, so I think it'll be much improved (which they do imply in the article).
Whatever either of us thinks EA will push this down everyone's throats and they will sell a huge number of copies.
BTW, I saw the first BF2 mod announce a switch to BF2142 today lol.

And to continue that thought Sharp, EA is a business and as such will do what they need to in order to make money. Aside from slaving their employees like modern day immigrants with no rights EA has committed themselves to bringing to market as many products as possible.
Unfortunately, they are far from alone. I walk by the game section at the computer and electronic shops and rarely find much worth buying. It's the same damn thing over and over again. The only difference between them is a few slightly modified feautures over last years games and, hopefully, better graphics and gameplay.
It's this reason why I stick around here. I hate forums. Nearly detest them. With 1944 and it's open community and the way the development team reamins visible and forthcoming with answers and information (whether we ask or not) I found I enjoy coming back to see what new post or reply has been created.
Very soon things will begin to change. Too many people are complaining of the lack of quality of product hitting the shelves. Too many people are aware of the tactics used by companies like EA to get those insufficient products to market. Eventually, things have to change.
Also, 75thDeadMan, not that I am trying to be an ass, but the article has several typos and grammatical errors.

I've been off the net for the last month-ish and i've just scooted this. Seems a little sketchy but if its to go against ET:QW it'll need to be fecking good because BF2 didn't stand up to my standards i still prefer desert combat from 1942 :D

Looks remarkably similar to the current BF2 opening video down to how the people hold their guns and move.

bf2142 is made in refractor 3 (the same engine for BF2) so thats probably why

Wow. EA does not deserve the word "Arts" in their name. More like EC- Electronic Crap. They keep shoving mediocre games down our throats- the REAL gamers throats- because normal people need a corporation to stand up for, for some reason. Be it Gap, KB Toys, Best Buy, or the Bush Administration, every non-gamer has to stand for a group or company. I have no idea why, but they keep buying this crap because it's produced by the wealthiest company. Plus, they own the feckin' rights to the NFL. Who in their right mind makes a selfish move like that?!

I watched a gaming show where it said that the NFL wanted one company exclusively to make their games and they chose EA. I'm not a football fan so I could care less but that's what it said.

No as in there are identical elements common between both videos. The point in the bf2142 one where there are three people walking and firing is mirrored exactly by the chinese in the bf2 video. Looks like they just changed the order and re-skinned a couple of things.

An ice age? I'm sorry for a moment I thought we were emitting too much carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and destroying the ozone and our precious planet earth? Have I been getting yelled at by my environmental science teacher and some tree huggers every day for the past seven years for nothing?
Global warming causes the ice caps to melt. Scientist predict we are destined to see another ice age (little or big who knows). What’s happening is there’s too much fresh water diluting the salinity of the ocean's Gulf Stream. The Gulf Stream creates warm currents; this is why Europe has similar weather to the United States and not of northern Canada. Since the fresh water is diluting the water it alters the flow of water. In this case the currents are moving slower and slower. When the current stops it will alter the weather patterns thus creating an ice age.

not according to my science book, but what does that no. i know its melting the ice and i know they predict another ice age but i think thats tens of thousands of years down the road. either way it just sounds kinda boring to me.
A more reasonable scenario would be that most of the world has been flooded by melted ice caps by 2142 and an all out war is going on to secure the bits of mountain ranges that are still sticking up, for farms and factories. That would put a big dominance on watercraft, though.

which would be good though. there was only the dingy in bf2, so a good assualt boat like in joint operations would be cool

yeah i miss the boats (as terrably coded as they were) from bf42. naval fights were fun damnit!

The world is not going to be flooded that is beyond reasonable. Come on now why don’t we just build Noah's ark II and let’s have WWIII on it. I think they predicted a reasonable catastrophe that is going to the hit the world soon. You guys don't know shite what is happening to the earth. Do some research before you flame bf2 on an event that IS going to happen.
