NO, this is not some local group looking to spread their music. This is a fan myspace page someone made for the band.

The group consists entirely of musical virtuosos in the circle of progressive/hard rock and plays entirely instrumental music without ever becoming boring to listen to. Give the songs on the page a listen, I guarantee you'll like them. Here's the member lineup and previous bands:

John Petrucci - Guitars: Dream Theater, one of Jordan Rudess's solo albums, John Finn Group, G3 (alongside guitar greats Steve Vai and Joe Satriani), and tribute albums to Queen and Rush

Michael Portnoy - Drums: Dream Theater, Transatlantic, O.S.I., Yellow Matter Custard, has appeared on Neal Morse, John Arch, and Andy West's albums

Jordan Rudess - Keyboards/Piano: Dream Theater, Jupiter Project, Vinnie Moore, Speedway Blvd., Tom Coster, Annie Haslam, Noirin Ni Riain, Kip Winger, Rhonda Larson, Scott McGill, Paul Winter and the Earth Band, Prefab Sprout, Jupiter, David Bowie's Heathen album, and the Rudess/Morgenstein Project

Tony Levin - Bass/Funk Fingers/Stick Bass/etc.: Too many to name. Has worked on a vast array of projects, most notably King Crimson. For complete discography visit http://www.tonylevin.com/discography.html

Give them a listen. Feel free to post replies here with what you think.

I used to be a diehard metal/alternative music fan. Lately I've grown towards other music and rarely hear a metal/alternative tune I can listen to completely. Not because it's bad music, but because modern alternative/metal suffers from what has been ailing the genre for the last 10+ years. Repetitiveness and a lack of individuality or uniqueness.

The music you posted was very interesting and was a nice change from what I have been hearing on the radio. They still suffer from their own lack of change. I basically heard the same tune when I switched between Acid Rain and Paradign Shift.

The guitarist loves to play fast and that's all. The drummer likes to hit the Zildjan alot and play fast. The bass was moderate for the what I was hearing from the rest of the band but still fell true to the other members.

That was my harsh critique. I like it, but wouldn't be able to listen to it for long. Hopefully they won't put words to it, but build on getting higher quality of they already have.

(Gonna listen to my downloads now :) )

While both songs you noted ARE indeed fast-paced, that certainly isn't all that they can play. It was just decided by the creator of the myspace page to include those songs since they seem to be the most technically impressive of the bunch. If they would've included "Another Dimension" in the track list you would've hear alot more variety from the drummer as the time signature is constantly changing throughout the song. A couple of songs that would showcase the bassist's skills are "914" or "The Stretch". You really have to hear a whole album to realize their range of song types.
