Details on the next COD titles from Joystiq (http://www.joystiq.com/2006/03/07/next-call-of-duty-leaked-modern-warfare-tackles-terrorists/). One title is modern warfare, other one is based on the breakout from Normandy (will be released on PC, PS2, PS3, Xbox, and Xbox 360):
The next Call of Duty World War II-based title will return gamers to the battlefields of Normandy as the Allies take on Nazi Germany to drive them out of France once and for all. This time around, American and British forces are joined by Canadian troops, Polish tanks, and French freedom fighters in a reenactment of the bloody Normandy Breakout campaign spearheaded during the summer of 1944. In the push to Paris, you'll get to choose how you approach each mission, free of menu screens and jarring non-interactive cut-scenes.
You'll also get to try your hand at a number of different roles in the Allied assault, including parachute drops and commando raids with the S.A.S. Powerful tanks will become part of your vehicular arsenal, as will jeeps and sidecar-enabled motorcycles--even in multiplayer mode. Bazookas and sticky bombs temper the advantage of armor, but at least you and a friend will be able to drive and shoot cooperatively in a trusty tank.
In addition to bringing the innovations of Call of Duty 2 along for the ride, the new WWII game will run on a new physics engine and context-sensitive battle-chatter system. Another system being added concerns Battlefield Actions where you'll push specific button combinations to pull off sprinting-to-cover, trap-disarming, and artillery-avoidance (aka dodging) maneuvers.

I'm guessing that we won't see an expansion for CoD2 but will get CoD3 in it's place.

Ah, they learned from their stupid mistake...
They'll finally feature a physics engine (let's hope it's more than just a ragdoll physics-only engine) and vehicles! :D
Though I haven't seen anything about anti-cheat yet!
I guess it will rival Medal of Honor: Airborne and Brothers in Arms 3 (if not Earned in Blood)...
Though they probably haven't seen the effective killer 1944 yet! :D

Well, I have to say, this may not be as happy joy as it might possibly be.
They have been working on CoD3 since before the release of CoD2. There could be a chance (small, yet possible) that CoD3 is released the same time/near the same time as 1944Dday.

eh ... they where working on COD 3 before COd 2 was even out.
hmmm intresting info there.
So COD 2 was just a filler to tie the gap between united offesnive and this 'COD Normandy' ?

Not really. It just means that as they were getting closer to the end and maybe didn't need as many people (don't know if they had a crunch-time or anything) and so they maybe slowly started working on it (or maybe it's a partially-new team.)

They only reason why I don't like COD is becuase there is no health in the game. That really pissed me off and is extremely unrealistic. If they fixed this then I would prob be intrested in buying COD3.

Yeah, I didnt like that either but I still found it a fun game. I prefer a realistic Brothers In Arms type game though. I'm glad to see that Canada is finally getting some props in a war game though.

How funny.. people complain when there is a health bar, then complain when they remove it
The easiest way to look at Call of Duty 2 is a "Movie you play through" rather than a game.
Sounds like it could be cool COD2 was really cinematic. The Modern warfare one sounds cool also, could make for some crazy stuff.

I think that a modern warfare one would be awsome! I would still play it though if it's WWII. Each time COD comes out, it keeps getting better :)

Anyways, for those of you that live in the US, you may have heard of the 'Da Colbert Code'. Stephen Colbert was able to use it to successfully predict all of this years Oscar winners. Similarly I am going to attempt to use the as yet untried 'Da Sharp Code', so here goes.
Each of the following lines should be read out loud, each one progressively faster and louder.
- One COD 3 game is set in Normandy
-- Developer of COD 3 Normandy game has NOT been announced
--- Of the two new COD games, ONLY the WW2 game uses a physics engine
---- Infinity Ward are not listed as a customer of Aegia
----- Activision will be at E3
------ 1944 D-Day uses Ageia physics engine
------- 1944 D-Day is set in Normandy
-------- Frantic games are working on 2 Demos for E3
---------- Ronan has some big announcements coming up soon!!!!!!!!
No, I came up with nothing, I might have to scrap the 'Da Sharp Code' :-(
(NOTE: This post is intended only in jest, very little of it its based on fact, and the 'Da Sharp Code' is copyrighted to Sharp 2006)

you mean the way your health regenerated in single player in COD2 ... if so beats running round half the level to find a health pack heheh
although i found that (and shotguns ... urh!) to be really annoying in mulitplayer.

Sounds like some WWII propaganda to me...

I hate how it regenerates itself, that’s the only reason why I didn't buy the game. What fun is there in a game knowing that it's going to be extremely hard for the enemies to kill you? It's like putting in an infinite health cheat in, and running and gunning everyone. I liked Brother in Arms because of its realism, tactics, and challenge. I've completed the game on authentic and every level I completed, I felt like I actually accomplished a goal. Even though it's frustrating when you die right before the end of the level or when you lose all your guys. I think that’s fun and challenging, when you fear losing your life and your buddies life. When I tried COD2, it felt like I accomplished nothing.

I have to say I was dissapointed with COD2, was good fun SP campaign that could have been better.
The AI pisses me off in the higher levels and just attacks you even though your ai buddies are 2 meters infront of them while you 20 away.
I have to say that the AI was unatural again and seemed to have a vandetta against you no matter where you were hiding behind your ai buddies didnt work lol.
Multiplayer is crap in COD2 it is such a step backwards from COD:UO but only better graphics which honestly dont do much for me.
COD:UO multiplayer > COD2 mp. And still no MP bots.. fantastic... Call of Duty has become a subscription pain relief rather than a cure for my desire for a fun shooter wether its arcade or simulation..
And no matter how non linear the game play is supposed to be you still play the levels to such a monotany of scripted events that its actually more fun to go back to Opflash these days and make ur own missions just to see who will survive in a random non linear world 200x200 km world.
Did i mention the MP maps for COD2 are so damn small that sniping albeit a dirty mans tool is rendered useless in most but the few maps.
No Mg's no tanks no bots.. Its an entertaining game once through but it just fills me with been there done that.
Lets hope COD3 does it right this time.
Normandy and the middle east are the two most overused game locations these days. (Of course, 1944 will pull it off because it will be unlike any other game on the market.) I have a feeling that CoD is going to recycle these locations AND recycle all its old gameplay, despite what they say to the community (i.e. their victims). CoD2 may be the last CoD game I play. Ramboing germans is getting old. CoD would be much more to my taste if they just took down a notch the idea that the player has to be the most important soldier on the battlefield ALL THE TIME. One soldier killing 200 germans in 15 minutes just doesn't happen, and any other attempt they make at realism cannot overcome the sheer over-the-top qualities of the game.

From now on I'm only buying WWII FPS games with Canadian soldiers in them, so it looks like I'll be getting cod3.

Just found this picture, and it perfectly shows what I think of IW/CoD2:

CoD2 was good, at least the SP was. The missions like Pointe Du Hoc were really good, and the tank battles were good fun (albeit few).
But I am currently hating IW. MP is a bag of crap. Everyone is cheating, and it seems that IW can't even get a bloody patch out. They won't even say what the problem is. Honestly, they don't give a sh*t about their customers as long as we buy their next game.

call of duty 2 was okay...
in the mission pointe du hoc, at some points you would only have like 5 rangers on your side. And then more would respawn. It was pretty lame. Like this is suppose to be a big assault and you have like 5 rangers with you. LAMEEEEEEEEE

i loved cod2 sp. especially the health system, i got so peeved playing MoH with its dumb health packs and having to run around for hours on end trying to find a health pack.
the cod2 version works, because if you run in the open you die, and if you just get clipped you have to sit down for a second, giving the enemies a chance to attack/flank, which i wish they did a bit more often.
